Distance Situational Modifier
One of two factors modifying attack rolls during combat. The distance situational modifier accounts for the increased diifculty in hitting more distant targets. One the hex map, spaces immediately adjacent or one hex away are considered +0. For every hex spaces distant beyond one hex distance, the dificulty to hit the target increases by a factor of +1.

Planetary Defenses
There are three primary categories of planetary defense: Platform-type, Energy Weapon-type, and Shield-type.
Planetary Defense Platform: A Planetary Defense Platform describes an array of defensive measures located on a planet’s surface. Planetary Defense Platforms can consist of any number of elements, such as fighters, artillery and shield generators, in creating a defense network for the purposes of protecting a planet from hostile action.
Orbital Defense Platform: An Orbital Defense Platform describes an array of defensive measures located above a planet’s surface. Orbital Defense Platforms can consist of any number of elements, such as fighters, artillery and shield generators, in creating a defense network for the purposes of protecting a planet from hostile action.
Battlestation (BS): Type of orbital defense station that moves freely in space. Battlestations are able to leave a planet’s orbit and travel at will.
Spacestation (SS): Type of orbital defense station that remains in planet’s orbit, and cannot leave that planet’s orbit.
Extra-Orbital Artillery (XA): Artillery element capable of firing at both low orbital and beyond. Extra-orbital artillery may be part of planetary and orbital defense platforms.

Point Defense
Anti-fighter laser cannons, with hyper tracking and targeting capabilities. The addition of point defense must be assigned as one of a capital ship’s points.

Prestige Points
Formal method of tracking players accomplishments and experience. Can be used actively to purchase troops, equipment, or modify game results.
Propulsion
Describes the means by which ships move and maneuver, attain and maintain velocity.

Sub-Light Engines: xxx
Thrust Displacement Ratio (TDL): Generally, the ratio describes the rate (in rounds) of acceleration to counter inertia in reaching maximum velocity. A rate of 3:1 takes three rounds to accelerate to maxiumum velocity (movement). The ratio also dictates how much movement is permitted prior to maximum acceleration. A 3:1 TDL rate moves one hex the first round, two hexes the second round, and so on until maximum velocity is achieved.
Shields
Shields are energy fields generated within the a ship that protect the exterior of the ship by absorbing the potential created when the shield field deforms.
